Grandioso bade a final farewell before an adoring crowd that gave a standing ovation as a celebration of the P.R.E. stallion that carried Jose Daniel Martin Dockx to two Olympics, a world championship and two European Championships for Spain. In route to his retirement at Hampton Green Farms in Michigan, Grandioso will make one final stop at the Andalusian World East show in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Grandioso was ridden for the Spanish team in his second Olympic Games Wednesday, the final competition for the 17-year-old PRE stallion owned by America’s Kim Boyer.
Grandioso with Jose Daniel Martin Dockx, who has been his rider for more than five years, competed for the Spanish team at the Olympics in London in 2012, the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Normandy and the European Championships in 2013 and 2014.
